Asus Zenbook Pro 15 (UX580) - The laptop with two displays....

The new Zenbook Pro 15 comes with a trackpad which turns into a display to increase your productivity.

The Asus Zenbook Pro 15 (UX580) was unveiled yesterday in Computex 2018 and is a new mwmber of Asus's premium laptop range. This laptop grabbed the attention of everyone because of its 5.5 inch touchpad which is not just a simple touchpad; its actually a display which also works as a normal touchpad. The display is well implemented and unlike the Apple MacBook Pro's Touch bar which is very limited and not much helpful, Asus's ScreenPad is useful and it does not take any useful thing away like physical keys.

  • Specification highlights - 15.6 inch 4K or 1080p display (optional touchscreen), Intel Core i9-8950 or i7-8750 or i5-8300 processor, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB, 1.88 Kg, 71 Wh Battery, up to 16 GB RAM, 1 TB or 512 GB PCIe SSD, 512 GB or 256 GB SATA SSD.
The Asus  Zenbook Pro 15 sports a 15.6 inch 4K or 1080p LCD display and you can also opt for a touchscreen display. The Bezels are thin and hence make the laptop the size of a more conventional 14 inch-laptop. It is powered by Intel Core i9-8950 or Core i7-8750 or Intel Core i5-8300 processor and the GPU department is taken care of by Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti with 4 GB of RAM. The laptop has either 8 GB of RAM or 16 GB. Under the hood, there is a 71 Wh battery which is rated for lasting up to 10 hrs.

Now lets talk about the ScreenPad which is the highlighting feature of the new Zenbook Pro 15. It has a 5.5 inch 1080p display and can be turned into an app launcher, calculator, calendar or even a numeric keypad. The switching between the modes is a very easy job, you can do this by just pressing F6. The SceenPad can also be used to play youtube videos via a Chrome extension or it can simply extend the ZenBook Pro's main display. Further you can also wirelessly project your smartphone's display on the ScreenPad which is going to be helpful for nearly everyone of us. Its awesome, isn't it?

Now you would be thinking that if the touchpad is being used as a screen then how would one navigate through the main screen?? Well, you don't have to worry for that because even when the touchpad is being used as a display, it will also perform as a normal touchpad at the same time. Asus has done a great job with this new innovation and the ScreenPad really increases the productive power of the user and saves his/her time simultaneously.

Also Asus has worked with Microsoft to develop Office integrations for the ScreenPad, so you get access to Word, Excel and even PowerPoint shortcuts and adjustments on it.

The build quality of the Zenbook Pro 15 is also good with Aluminium on the top, bottom and wrist rest. There's also a 14 inch variant of the laptop which looks similar to its bigger brother and differs only in size.  The quality of the output of the speaker on the 15.6 inch Zenbook Pro is amazing, it produces loud and rich sound and the details are also good and is better than most other laptops. With the 14 inch version of the Zenbook Pro, you'll get a max of Intel Core i7 CPU, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050, USB type-C port without thunderbolt 3 and an IR camera for Windows Hello instead of the fingerprint sensor which is present in the Pro 15.

The Zenbook Pro 15 will go on sale in mid-July at a starting price of $ 2,299 (roughly Rs 1,54,000) and the 14 inch variant of the laptop will arrive sometime in the fourth quarter of 2018 and will be offering a better battery life of 13 hrs.
